Polypipe Civils the UK’s leading manufacturer of ducting, drainage, sewerage and environmental systems has provided a second drainage solution for Robin Hood Airport in Doncaster.

Following the successful installation of Polypipe Civils’ Polystorm Modular Soakaway System, the Ridgidrain Advanced Drainage System was selected as the preferred choice for storm water attenuation.

By providing another solution for this project, Polypipe Civils has demonstrated its market leading ability to provide storm water management solutions which meet the specific requirements of the project and the contractor.

Robin Hood Airport is currently undergoing a conversion from an RAF base in to a civil airport with a 3,000 space car park, a fire station, taxiways and airport buildings covering 100,000 sq metres.

Efficient drainage on this site is crucial particularly with the construction of new car parks and buildings. The Polystorm Drainage System was employed to provide a soakaway solution in the parking areas and the Ridgidrain Advanced Drainage System was selected to attenuate water from the RAF airfield land. A massive 2,500 metres of 900mm Ridgidrain pipe was installed on all hardstanding sites at Robin Hood airport.

The Ridgidrain Advanced Drainage System is the market leading structured wall drainage product and is the complete technical and commercial answer to all non pressure, surface and sub-surface water drainage applications. The Ridgidrain range starts at 150mm and includes 750, 900 and 1050mm diameters. It is utilised as a preferred alternative to clay and concrete pipes with a weight less than 6% of an equivalent size concrete pipe.
