South West Water, one of the major water and environmental services providers in the UK, recently granted approval for Ridgisewer Pipe and Couplings manufactured by Polypipe Civils Limited. The approval is for use on all public and prospectively adoptable sewers within the South West region and covers 400, 4500, 500, 600, 750 and 900mm pipes and double socket couplings to WIS 4-35-01, in addition to junction for lateral connections.

Approval by South West Water reflects increasing acceptance of large diameter plastic pipes for all applications, building on the successful introduction of Ridgisewer in , for example, the Wessex Water, North West Water, Yorkshire Water and Severn Trent regions.

Ridgisewer is manufactured in high performance polypropylene granting exceptional durability and chemical resistance combined with all the on-site advantages, including Health and Safety considerations, provided by the lightweight and easy installation achievable with plastic pipe systems. The system offers joint integrity even under extreme conditions and resistance to the effects of routine maintenance including high pressure water jetting and internal and external impact. Ridgisewer was the first system of its type to be Kitemarked to WIS 4-35-01 and is also among the most versatile, having an extremely wide range of fittings and accessories in all diameters. This latest approval by South West Water is yet another acknowledgment of these qualities.
